Poetry of Kansas

Dog, Cat And Man

With yelp of pup and yowl of cat
Both of them went right to the mat;
Each thinking, ere the fight begun
His bluff would make the other run.
It took just thirty days to heal
Two punctured pelts in that one deal;
Yet, men for generations pay
For what they lose in just one fray,
And some, not satisfied at that!
Beg pardon, Dog! Beg pardon, Cat!
